Marília Metropolitana, the megacity of the year 3121, in official Radius artwork

The entire Radius saga takes place between two locations. They sit side by side on the map, but they stand for opposite choices: the city that trades freedom for technology and the land that refuses to make that trade.

Marília Metropolitana

In the year 3121, long after a pandemic of about 20 years and a nuclear war that devastated the planet's forests, civilization restructured itself in an uncontrolled way. Out of that process comes Marília Metropolitana, a megacity born from the union of 62 municipalities.

Holograms

Holograms give color and shape to a world that lost its own. They are also the regime's tool of social control: those who want the technology accept submission. Three landmarks sum up the city:

  • Great Hologram Central: the landmark tied to the technology that gives the city its color and shape.
  • Quark Labs: where necroscience is practiced.
  • The Kennel: the arena where prisoners are forced to fight to entertain the residents.

Aruanda

Outside the city limits lies Aruanda, the sacred land of the Tapanhumas, a group of hukeira fighters who refuse to trade their freedom for Major Pimã's holograms.

The Tapanhumas share the space with humanoid dogs and cats, creatures that evolved over the centuries and were expelled from the city for refusing to submit to the regime. Welcomed in Aruanda, they live in colonies of their own, separate from each other, even though they share the same territory.

What is at stake

The conflict between the two territories is the axis of the universe: freedom on one side, conditioning on the other. Aruanda is the stage of the resistance from the first volume on and faces new attacks from the Tomorrow Troops throughout the saga.
