Pituco, the dog who inspired the Radius hero

Pituco started as a character. Then he became a book. And, little by little, he became a way to talk about animal protection off the page. This post gathers the actions that took this story to the streets.

Eu Freio Para Animais

In October 2025, the free distribution of 10,000 stickers with Pituco's image began. The campaign, whose name means "I brake for animals", invites drivers to slow down and protect animal life, with support from EMDURB and partner locations around the city and region.

The theme was not chosen by chance. Pituco passed away on July 8, 2024, after being hit by a car. The campaign turns that loss into a simple request: brake.

A proposed park with his name

On May 17, 2025, the proposal for Parque Pet Pituco was announced: a public pet park in the Parati neighborhood that would be the first in Marília. It is a request filed at the City Council by councilwoman Professora Daniela, and it is still in progress.

Food for those in need

The official launch of the book Quatro Patas, a história de Pituco, in June 2025, collected 75 kg of pet food for the NGO Amor Animal. In October of the same year, the RCR Radius Pet Run made Pituco the highlight of the 13th race of Pompéia, also collecting food for abandoned animals. The event gathered 700 people.

Pitucão on the avenue

On April 4, 2026, the mascot Pitucão made his debut in the civic parade for the 97th anniversary of Marília, on Sampaio Vidal avenue, in the block of the Municipal Department of Culture.

And in June 2026, Dart Studios completed a life-size statue of Pituco.

Why keep going

Tributes, school activities, fundraising for NGOs and public policy started echoing the same message. The official page sums it up well: as long as someone brakes out of empathy or opens a book out of curiosity, Pituco will be around.
