Dr. Otium: the scientist behind the R.A.D.I.U.S. project
A regime scientist on the outside, a secret ally of the resistance on the inside. Meet the man who turned Lukas Xagas into Radius.

"Call me Dr. Otium." That is how he introduces himself. In the Radius Universe Archive, his file sums it up in one line: a regime scientist on the outside, a secret ally of the Aruanda resistance on the inside.
The man from Quark Labs
According to the file, Dr. Otium is the former chief scientist of Quark Labs, in Marília Metropolitana, where the most inhumane experiments of Major Pimã's regime are carried out. His real name is not revealed.
In secret, he is tied to the Tapanhumas, the people of Aruanda. Because of that, the regime's own agents call him a traitor. On the main universe page he is listed among the antagonists, described as a scientist driven by knowledge and survival. The file shows the other side.
The project that created Radius
It was Dr. Otium who ran the R.A.D.I.U.S. project on Lukas Xagas, the hukeira instructor captured while trying to sabotage the Great Hologram Central on his own. In Portuguese, the acronym stands for Radiação Atômica Disruptiva Intra Ultra Supramolecular.
The file says he made sure Lukas survived the transformation and then helped him escape back to Aruanda. The codename was also his suggestion. The name Radius comes from the project itself.
What he can do
- Scientific genius: he masters the regime's most advanced technology.
- Privileged access: he gets into labs, experiments and information no other resistance ally can reach.
- Flawless cover: he keeps up the front of a loyal scientist without his superiors suspecting.
An ironic name
"Otium" comes from Latin and means rest or free time. The file calls it an ironic contrast for a scientist who never rests from the regime's experiments.
Dr. Otium first appears in Volume 1. And one clue is left hanging: he has a plan involving Pituco that has not been fully revealed yet. His file is in the character archive.
