September 17: the Radius blog starts on its creator's birthday
This blog's timeline opens on the birthday of the man who created Radius. We take the date as a cue to go back to the start: where the hero from Marília came from.

This blog's timeline starts on September 17. The date was not picked at random: it is the birthday of Tiago de Moraes das Chagas, the creator of Radius. Opening the blog on that day is his gift to the project.
And since the date calls for it, this first post goes back to the beginning: where Radius came from.
An idea from 1996
Tiago was born in Marília, in the countryside of São Paulo state, Brazil, on September 17, 1981. The Radius project was first imagined in 1996. As Metrópoles reported, it was a futuristic story set in his own hometown, with a superhero born from radiation.
The idea sat in a drawer for many years. But the essentials were already there: Marília as the setting and radiation as the hero's origin.
Radiation as the starting point
Among the inspirations the author names for the character is the Cesium-137 accident in Goiânia, Brazil, in 1987.
In the fiction, radiation shows up in the hero's own name. Radius comes from R.A.D.I.U.S., which stands for Radiação Atômica Disruptiva Intra Ultra Supramolecular. It is the scientific project that transforms Lukas Xagas, a hukeira master, and gives him the ability to emit blasts of energy.
The pandemic and a dog named Pituco
The project took its definitive shape during the pandemic, when Tiago rewrote the script and brought the universe to life.
It was in that same period, in April 2020, that he adopted a mixed-breed dog named Pituco. Daily life together lit the creative spark that was missing, and the dog became a character: the anthropomorphic dog who fights alongside Radius in the year 3121.
From idea to publisher
To bring Radius and other stories to readers, Tiago founded Mustache Comics. On July 2, 2022, Radius Volume 1 was launched at an event at UNIMAR, in Marília, with more than 350 people.
Then came Volume 2 and Volume 3, which closed the first major arc in 2024. The universe kept growing with the comic Pituco Nº 1: Aurora Esmeralda and the book Quatro Patas, a história de Pituco.
What this blog will do
A new post every three days. Characters, territories, comics, Pituco, behind the scenes and press coverage, always based on what is already part of the official universe.
If you are just arriving, the next step is the Radius Universe, with the three volumes and the timeline of the first arc.
